Direction is a Bible study for young people. Aimed at age 16yrs. to mid twenties the study evening is an informal time held in the church's prayer room on the first and third Fridays of every month, starting around 8.00pm. There's a 'kitchen table' atmosphere as everyone sits round the long catering tables with open Bibles and a welcome mug of coffee or tea. (we tried soft drinks, but our crowd are way too grown up for that!) Although very relaxed, direction is a no-frills teaching ministry and begins with a 'slot' which is a ten minute talk, given by one of the leaders, putting the spotlight on a subject like 'cults' or 'evolution' giving answers from the scriptures to equip today's young people for challenges to their personal faith, which they might face at college or work. Questions often follow this section and the answers take as much time as is necessary before going into the evening's lesson. Another leader then gives a 30 min. (aprox.) study from God's Word. It isn't a conversational Bible study but the leader may ask direct questions and questions are often asked of him which he didn't expect!! The method is simply to compare scripture with scripture and the emphasis is on very practical application. The group, this year, aren't in any hurry home at this stage and more coffee and tea appear until the lights are turned out around 10:30pm. The teaching for 2009/2010 is from St. John's Gospel with scripture lesson discussions on the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. Current Bible Study Subjects 'this is the Son of God' John 1:30-39
